Exquisite biological vineyard with 3 main buildings: Trulli, guest house and wine cellar with wine tasting facilities, located in the heart of the Valle D’Itria.
Main House – Trulli Compound The renovated Villa Santoro consists of a number of trulli which were built in 1920. The main trullo has a size of 260 m2 and consists of circa 12 rooms including very cozy alcoves. The property is set up in such a fashion that it may house two separate families due to its private separate entrances. You will come across a swimming pool, private garden with panoramic views as well as a courtyard, gazebo, garden shed, private parking lot and water cisterns.
Second Unit – AgriSàrolo The AgriSàrolo is a 117 sqm old stone building formerly used as a winery where wine storage barrels were housed. The building contains a flat roof with vaulted ceilings, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room, kitchen, fireplace, television, large veranda, a wood stove and a sink oven.
Barn/Lamia for restoration (35m2) The lamia is a small building which would require restoration and was formerly used as a shelter for crushing grapes and storing wine. Permit extensions have been granted for development and restoration.
Trullo and Wine Cellar (74m2 / 378m2) This building consists of a former stable, warehouse, ancient family dwellings and has been completely renovated and restored in an original manner. The trulli and lamia here have vaulted ceilings and are used for representational purposes to house guests and conduct wine tastings. The wine cellar is equipped with the most modern technology and machinery with a storage capacity of a 1,000 hectoliters.
Tettoia (80m2) This is a shelter for agricultural machinery and to stock other miscellaneous equipment.
Land Arable land is featured throughout the grounds with permits in place should you want to build further facilities. In the center of the valley 2 hectares are planted with Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, Malvasia and Merlot, one has the traditional white grapes found in the Itria Valley (Marchione, Verdeca and white for Alessano) and another 2 hectares feature the black grape for the Vine Cucciguaniello (Susumaniello), an ancient and rare found grape variety which almost disappeared at the end of 800 A.D. The rest of the land consists of park and century old oak trees which are located halfway up the hill to the south west side and boast a highly panoramic view
Soil And Climate Red soil by decomposition of limestone abounding in ferric hydroxide.
The Valley d’Itria is located in the Murgia hills of South Puglia between the Adriatic and Ionian coasts. From September onwards the temperature varies from 25-30° C during the day and 5-8° C in the night. This climate enhances notably the aroma and the quality of our wines.
